Community Meeting: Norway House Minneapolis
October 29 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
This is a community meeting to develop grassroots public policy. Your comments and suggestions for ways to improve your community will be folded into the One Minnesota Equity Blueprint, a set of policy recommendations that will be presented to the new Minnesota governor in January, as well as distributed to other public officials statewide.
The project is called Thriving by Design, and it is the creation of two policy-driven nonprofits: Growth and Justice, headed by Jane Leonard, and OneMN.org, led by Brett Buckner. Thriving by Design was launched at a three-day statewide summit meeting in June at the Upper Sioux Community near Granite Falls. I was there as a delegate representing Synapse. Together, the attendees contributed ideas that became the first draft of the Blueprint. Your job at the Community Meeting on Oct. 29 is to give feedback on those ideas, and to come up with new suggestions. We will also be selecting delegates to a final summit meeting in December.
This is a nonpartisan event that seeks your input for ways to make Minnesota more successful in an equitable way that benefits all Minnesotans, starting with your local community.
Here is the range of topics thus far:
- Arts & Culture
- Climate Action Renewables
- Democracy & Civic Engagement
- Economic Development
- Economic Security
- Public Safety Criminal Justice
The Synapse Community Meeting will be at Norway House, 913 East Franklin Avenue, Minneapolis. There is ample parking behind the building and refreshments available for purchase.
